Screening of documentary “Nadia” and panel discussion with female athletes

With the Paris 2024 Olympics Games approaching, the Embassy of France to Qatar with the French Institute of Qatar would like to celebrate women and sports. Great female athletes have been able to assert themselves in and through sport, leading a whole generation to follow their path.

Nadia Nadim is one such inspiring personality. A professional footballer as well as a doctor, she is a significant example of empowered women. Both a former superstar of the Paris Saint-Germain women’s team and an engaged woman, Nadia Nadim has become an icon.

Directed by French director Anissa Bonnefont, “Nadia” is a documentary film released in 2021 about the unique journey of Nadia Nadim. As a young Afghan girl, Nadia was forced to leave Afghanistan at the age of eight with her mother and her four sisters. Growing up with her family in Denmark as a refugee, Nadia was passionate about football. She went on to play for the Danish national team, as well as joined Paris Saint-Germain’s women’s team where she won the 2020-2021 French championship.
